AI Robo-Advisor for Crypto - Investment Opportunity Over the past 2 years, we've built an AI robo-advisor for cryptocurrencies. It allows clients to connect their exchange account and invest in cryptocurrencies on autopilot. The platform is productive and ready to be scaled up. We are running out of funds for R&D and therefore have to liquidate the company. Operating Model Our robo-advisor performs day-trading on cryptocurrency futures. It automatically selects coins to trade cryptocurrency futures multiple times a day, based on signals generated with various machine learning and deep learning models. The algorithms aim to generate profit in all market environments, as they are performing Swing-Trading with alternating long and short positions. There is no client interaction required, other than configuring several risk parameters like a personal stop-loss level or an account limit. Clients can add or withdraw funds and profits at any time from their custodian bank account. Our user-friendly front-end allows clients to oversee the activities of their robo-advisor and benchmark the performance with relevant indexes. Regulatory Situation We are not an investment fund or a collective investment scheme, as we don’t receive or manage clients’ funds. Our clients hold their funds at a custodian bank (currently Binance, others can be added easily) and connect our software via API. It is therefore not necessary to set up a hedge fund or obtain a wealth management licence. Our business aims to be a technology provider where clients pay for using our software. Please note that this is not a legal advice and the regulatory situation may be different in other jurisdictions. Platform Overview The technology platform consists of the following components: Data Warehouse: Central storage where all data from external and internal sources is computed, aggregated and stored. MLOps Pipeline: Machine learning platform which trains our models and provides endpoints for predictions. Web Platfom: Trading engine and user interface for clients, which pulls predictions and performs trades in their custodian accounts. Research Labs: Comprehensive collection of Jupyter Notebooks running on Vertex AI for feature engineering and model development. Monetization Our platform currently charges a configurable performance fee of 30% and no management fee or setup fee to increase trust. At the end of every month, clients receive an invoice to their account, which they then can pay in cryptocurrencies directly on our platform. Technology Our infrastructure has been built on top of Google Cloud with high-scalability as a primary goal. The data warehouse runs on BigQuery, the data pipeline leverages Cloud Functions to obtain, process and store data. The data itself is pulled from crypto exchanges and third-party data providers. We then compute numerous technical indicators to engineer features for our ML models. Our MLOps pipeline runs on Vertex AI, it automatically trains and deployed our models. Our models are based on XGBoost, LSTM and Reinforcement Learning. The integration with the custodian exchanges is abstracted using the technology of a third-party platform and therefore highly extensible. The web platform and front-end is built using PHP and Laravel and runs on a Kubernetes cluster and MySQL. Team We are a small but very experienced team of four software engineers, machine learning researchers and quant finance professionals. Some members of the team might be available for hire post-deal. We are happy to negotiate about ongoing technology support and R&D agreements. Project Status The project has recently completed beta testing and is currently operating in live markets. We are happy to demonstrate real-money trading to interested buyers. All components and features are working and ready to scale up. All processes are fully automated, there is very limited maintenance effort required to keep the platform running. Reasons for Sale After nearly 3 years of R&D, we are running out of funds and cannot continue operating the platform. Unfortunately, we were not able to raise funds in the current market environment and have therefore decided to shut down the project. Our models, even though they are generally profitable, were not able to meet the high performance expectations of our investors. To limit our losses on this venture, we are looking for a buyer who is willing to take over our assets and technology. Deal Structure We don’t have any revenue or liabilities and will liquidate our legal entity in the coming months. For this reason, we’re looking to do an asset deal where we transfer our technology and infrastructure to a buyer. Our team will provide migration assistance, training for employees and further consultancy if desired. Operating Cost The cost to operate the infrastructure and all platforms of the project and provide sufficient server resources for ongoing research is around $2’500 per month. Strategic Outlook A buyer could decide to invest more money into R&D to meet the requirements of institutional investors and follow the initial strategy of the company. Another possibility is a shift towards a retail investor business model where monthly subscriptions are sold, perhaps with different plans ranging from signals only to fully managed accounts. From a technical point of view, this could be implemented in a few weeks only. Alternatively, a buyer working on a similar product could decide to integrate parts of our technology and client platform into their own product to accelerate their time to market.
